String Miser Purse
This is another fun style of miser purse, called a string purse. When, I saw how it opened, I felt like it needed to be in this pattern book! I’ve seen originals dated from the 1840s and into the
earlier 1900s. It actually was rather popular in the 1920’s, and often made as a one side purse with a finger ring.
When looking at original string purses, it is obvious that not all crocheters had good tension, and there were other indicators that the maker was new to the craft! And I have to say, this is a great
project if you don’t feel ready for a more complicated doubled miser purse! Each bag is 3 inches long x 2.25 inches wide. Total purse is 12 inches long without fringe.
