STRING OF HEARTS
A cable project with a traditional look and modern construction.

KEYWORDS
Top-down, Short-rows, chartwork, modified/compound-raglan shoulders, sharp XOXO cables, 1/1 & 2/2 cables, and “string of hearts” cables

CONSTRUCTION
The String of Hearts features a top-down construction, worked back and forth in flat rows. The cardigan begins at the collar and incorporates traditional cables and short-row construction to help the collar fold naturally. It is worked in one piece, with short rows shaping the shoulders and the front neckline. Raglan increases are modified from the traditional straight raglan line to create a better-fitting shoulder line without resulting in an overly deep raglan or large upper arm circumference.
The cardigan is cozy enough to wear as outerwear during cooler months yet comfortable enough to layer under a winter jacket in colder weather. The button and buttonhole bands are worked simultaneously with plump edging to create a definition and structure. While the cables provide structure, the moss stitch on the side panels and sleeves contributes to a soft and relaxed feel.
The pattern is provided mostly in charts, available in two formats: one for tablet (single page PDF) and for printing (which can be glued together, please see the tablet chart to glue pages in the right order). Please use the tablet version as a refernce to put printed pages in the correct order.
