Stripe Swept is the fifth and final pattern of my new shawl collection.

A subtle rhythm of increases give a lovely texture to the stocking stitch body of this semi-circular shawl — and makes it a perfect showcase for a tweedy or heathered yarn like Brooklyn Tweed Loft. Narrow stripes in a pair of contrast colours make up the edging, joined with the intarsia technique in an eye-catching slant. It’s airy, warm, and entertaining to knit.

Fingering weight: Brooklyn Tweed Loft; 100% wool - targhee-columbia; 251 m (275 yd)/50 g; in colours Snowbound, Stormcloud and Pumpernickel

Aim for a moderately tight fabric. This is crucial for the pattern to work. The shawl length is adjustable. You may work more or less repeats to get to the desired length. So focus on st tension over accurate gauge. You might need to plan in some extra yarn though, depending on your gauge and the number of repeats worked.

Stripe Swept besticht durch Eleganz und Understatement. Zunahmen geben dem durchgehend glatt rechts gestrickten Halbkreistuch Rhythmus. Eine Schlichtheit, die charaktervolle Garne wie Brooklyn Tweed Loft gut zur Geltung bringt. Abschließend wird die Tuchborte durch Krausrippen in zwei Farben verziert, die in einer markanten Schräge aufeinander stoßen.

Es entsteht ein luftiges, wärmendes Tuch, das gut von den Nadeln geht und dabei immer spannend zu stricken bleibt.

Das Ziel ist ein eher festes Gestrick. Dies ist notwendig, damit das Muster gut herauskommt. Es ist sehr einfach möglich, die Tuchgröße anzupassen, indem Wiederholungen hinzugefügt oder weggelassen werden. Daher empfiehlt es sich, die Maschenprobe nach den Eigenschaften des Gestricks auzurichten anstatt zu versuchen, die angegebene Maschenprobe zu erreichen. Ggf. mehr Garn als angegeben einplanen.
