Striped Chevron Fingerless Mitts
No longer available.
This is my very first published pattern. I was searching for a pattern to use up stash yarn while getting the maximum possible points for the Fingerless Gloves Fanatics group 14 Point Club (2014).
My wrist has a 6” circumference and the mitts fit snugly.
This pattern is worked from the top down.
The colour stripes are in a 2, 4, 6 round alternating pattern.
There is a thumb gap.
You will need to know how to:
Cast on
k = knit
p = purl
k2tog = knit two stitches together
yo = yarn over
sl1, k1, psso = slip one stitch, knit one stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch
Bind off
I have listed both needle sizes as I used the 6mm for cast on & bind off. The main body of the mitts is worked on the 5mm.
I used a two circular needles method that placed one repeat of the pattern round (16 stitches) onto each needle. This method can be seen in a video on the Denise website (http://www.knitdenise.com/pages/knitting-tutorials) or by looking up the two circulars method on Youtube.
This pattern could also be worked on DPNs.
I do not do the magic loop method and have not personally tested the pattern that way.
