Striped Mittens
Skill Level: Easy
Materials:
• 2 colors of worsted weight yarn
• 5.5 mm (I-9) crochet hook
• 4.50 mm (7) crochet hook for teen/small ladies size
• 4.00 mm (G-6) hook for large children’s size
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge Worked with 5.50 mm hook:
17 stitches and 10 rows in hdc blo = 4” (10 cm)
Gauge: Worked with 4.00 mm hook:
20 stitches and 12 rows in hdc blo = 4” (10 cm)
Gauge: Worked with 4.50 mm hook:
18 stitches and 10 rows in hdc blo = 4” (10 cm)
CHECK YOUR GAUGE - adjust hook size if needed
Abbreviations:
ch = chain tog = together
st(s) = stitch(es) sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together
Blo = back loops only
Finished Measurements:
Small ladies: Width of palm = 4”; Height from cuff to tip of the mitten = 7”
Medium/Large: Width of palm = 4 ¼”; Height from cuff to tip of the mitten = 8”
Large Children’s: Width of palm = 3 ½”; Height from cut to tip of mitten = 6 ½”
Mitten length can be adjusted by adding rows before decreasing rounds.
Pattern Notes:
In instructions, Color A is Navy Blue and Color B is Light Pink. You may use whatever colors you wish.
Do not count beg ch in st count
For a ladies Medium/Large, use a 5.50 mm hook
For a Teen/Ladies’ Small, use a 4.50 mm hook
For a Large Children’s adult use a 4.00 mm hook
