This sweet little hat is easy and quick to make and can be made in any color combination for any baby. We’ll switch back and forth between the 2 colors without cutting the yarn, so there are no extra ends to weave in!

Preemies need help staying warm and oftentimes families are unprepared for their arrival, so a handmade crochet hat is the perfect gift idea for a friend or a donation idea for the nicu, but just make sure to use very soft yarn, such as baby yarn or a worsted weight yarn with “soft” in the name. Test it’s softness by rubbing it on your cheek.

These hats are so small that they don’t use much yarn, so it’s a great project for getting rid of (soft) scrap yarn, too.
