This pattern adds a bit of flair to a basic V-Stitch beanie using rows of double and single crochet. Description of the V-Stitch is included.

I also use the Chainless Starting Double Crochet and Adjustable Starting Ring, which are not described here. There are tutorials for both online but you can easily substitute a basic starting chain if you prefer.

Approximate finished size is 8’’ from crown to rim and 22.5’’ around the bottom. If you want to adjust the sizing, make sure to increase or decrease your final stitch count by a multiple of three or the V-Stitches will not work properly. Different weights of yarn can achieve the same effect without the math.

Finally, if you use the recommended yarn (picture 1), you only need about 1/2 a skein. However, this pattern works well with most yarns and various color patterns. Contrast V-Stitches can look particularly nice (picture 3).
