Versatile and flattering, the drop-shoulder Voronka Pullover has quickly become a staple in my handmade fall and winter wardrobe! Although lightweight, the Voronka is warm without the bulk.

A wardrobe staple, with plenty of details! While making this sweater, you’ll have the opportunity to practice some different machine knitting techniques including:

  • Contrast i-cord Bind Off
  • Decorative Eyelet Increases
  • Side Vents
  • Non-Flaring Rolled Edges
  • Smooth Partial Knit Stripes
  • And More!

The funnel neckline is integrated with the front and back pieces and takes shape through a series of short rows.

You first knit the front and back of the sweater from the bottom up. Both shoulders are seamed before knitting and attaching the sleeves.

Use a basic mattress stitch (or linker) to finish.

The sweater is designed to be worn with 6-8” of positive ease at the bust and approximately 2” of positive ease at the bicep.

The written pattern includes 5 sizes (1 (2, 3, 4, 5)), with a finished bust circumference: 36 (40, 44, 48, 52) inches; 91 (101, 111, 121, 131) cm.

If using the recommended yarn (Isager Alpaca 2), you will require the following quantities:

MC1: 120 (135, 145, 160, 175) grams
MC2: 100 (110, 120, 135, 150) grams
CC: 15 (15, 15, 18, 20) grams

For my version, I used two tonally similar colors for MC1 and MC2, with a pop of color for the CC. You can follow this approach, or experiment with color blocking, or even opt for a solid color—there are plenty of creative options!

This pattern is a 23 page PDF with detailed instructions, including technique explanations, some step-by-step photo tutorials, and size-specific graphs to guide you through short row shaping at the shoulders and front neck. Within the pattern you will also find a detailed schematic with garment measurements.
