Stripes Rucksack
This rucksack is knitted flat, felted and then hand sewn together. There is a back pocket to slip in your phone and carry it securely. The front and back are knitted in a random stripe pattern and the gusset, pocket, flaps and straps are made in the 3 main colours of pink, green and yellow. You can choose your own colours but I have listed the sequence and colours used in the pattern. Great for using up small amounts of feltable wool in your yarn stash.
Gauge pre-felting: 17sts & 24 rows to 4”/10cm in stockinette on size US 8 (5mm) needles
Measurements Pre-felting:
H: 21”/42.5cm, W: 13”/32.5cm, Depth: 7”/17.5cm
Felted:
H: 13.5”/34cm, W: 10”/25cm, Depth: 4.25”/11cm
I used a combination of Knitpicks 100% Peruvian Highland Wool Worsted weight “Bare” which I hand-dyed with cochineal, weld and elderberries plus some Cascade 220 Wool from my stash, but you can choose your own colours from the wide range of Cascade 220 or Knitpicks shades available. Allow 200g for the gusset colour (apple green in my version), 100g yellow and 200g pale pink. These are the main 3 colours used. The other stripes only require a small amount of yarn, or you can limit the stripes to the 3 main colours of your choice. In all, the rucksack used about 550g (1210 yards).
The written instructions include how to felt, construct and line the bag. You will need 1/2 yard of lining material.
