Stripey Winter Hat with Earflaps
by Susan Adkins
Here’s a super cute hat for the little ones in your life. Make it stripey like I did, using some of my stash, or just do it up in one solid color. The top of the hat turns into a short I-cord, which is tied into a little knot but you could, of course, skip this part and just weave your yarn through the last 8 stitches and tie off like you do with most hats. The ties on the bottoms of the ear flaps are done in a monk’s cord and have a little tassle. The hat begins with the garter stitch, working back and forth in short rows; all fully explained, row by row, in the pattern. I made many of these for my kids when they were small, so that they had a hat always matching their coats or snowsuits.
