The pattern instructs to cast on 42, a medium size, you can change this to a small or a larger size by adding/subtracting a multiple of 6 stitches. You don’t need much of each yarn but I don’t know the exact yardage.

This pattern is designed for a newish knitter, but it knits up quickly and is good for any knitter of any level of experience.
