This small knit and crocheted purse (roughly the size of a large cell phone) with a cross body strap was designed during interesting times. Because we need to carry a few things with us when we go out for a walk.

The purse body was knit in the Diagonal Weave pattern from Barbara Walker’s books. It’s knit in the round and finished off with a three-needle bind off. The flap on top is knit flat and sewed onto the body. It’s finished with a crocheted edging as well as a crocheted strap.

(The strap in the pattern is a fun thing called a Spiral Cord. It is a tricky technique but well worth the trouble.)

It was designed to hold just the few things one needs along when one goes for a walk--cell phone, a bit of cash, a lip balm, etc. It’s just the thing for a walk in the neighborhood or just around the block.
