Stronger than the Storm Socks
Knitting for so many produces more than a finished sock or sweater. Knitting for me is a pastime, hobby, and probably my favorite coping skill. I wanted to create a sock that is both simple, and complex. An opportunity to brush up on color work skills, while also have some quiet stockinette time.
I do my best to provide insightful, and helpful instructions throughout the pattern. Providing explanations for the various elements that make up classic cuff down socks. I use 9 inch circulars, although, the pattern is easily adapted for 32 inch circulars or DPNs. Various testers utilized all three of these sock knitting techniques successfully.
Sizing:
A (7.5inch cuff circumference)
B (8.25inch cuff circumference)
C (9 inch cuff circumference)
D (9.75 inch cuff circumference)
Given that there is color work in the leg, many testers opted to go up a size completely, or use a larger needle for the color work portion.
Yardage Recommendations:
100g/400yds of fingering weight yarn
20g/80yds of contrast fingering weight yarn
Sample sock yarn: Campfiber Yarns, “Stronger” sock set, exclusively designed for these socks in their “Vibrant” base (fingering weight, 80% superwash, 20% nylon)
This pattern has been professionally tech edited by Luke Gilligan, The Wool Enthusiast. Yarn support was provided by Lora Camp, Campfiber Yarns.
