Stroop
Stroopwafels and sock knitting - a classic pairing!
“Stroop” means “syrup” in Dutch, but it is so much more than that. Queen of all Stoop-related things is the Stroopwafel - the beloved cookie of (not just) sock-knitters everywhere. This sock is inspired by them (or perhaps because I ate too many of them). Cables, simple lace and ribs representing the flowing of stroop. The sock is worked top-down, eye of partridge heel flap, and a riverbed-style gusset on the sole of the foot.
Women’s small/medium (large), to fit 8 (9) inches/ 20 (23) cm foot circumference; foot length is adjustable. The leg pattern is very stretchy, so the size is mainly limited by the number of stitches for the cuff.
So grab you needles, make a cup of tea and dig in to a pack of stroopwafels - just be sure to save a few for the Stroopwafel Creme Caramel recipe at the end of the pattern.
Eet smakelijk!
