“This quick-knitting cardigan makes the most of round, multi-ply yarns with smooth definition. The chunky gauge of the fabric turns up the volume on the many knitterly details stashed throughout the project.

A simple allover garter rib pattern forms the basis for strong architectural shaping details, all of which are worked with decorative double-decreases that keep the rib pattern unbroken throughout and highlight unique design lines. The compound raglan yoke creates a comfortable fit through the shoulders and the easy-to-work stand-up collar creates a cozy finish. Work optional buttonholes if you prefer closures, or leave them off for a cleaner, minimalistic look.

The pattern includes customizable fit and sizing options so that knitters can make something that is uniquely suited to their body shape and fit preferences. Choose from three body lengths (with or without waist tapering) and two sleeve silhouettes (classic or slim).“ — designer, Jared Flood

Construction

  • Sleeves are worked circularly to the underarm, with decorative shaping worked on the top-side of sleeve. At the end of each sleeve, stitches are bound off for the underarm and the remaining stitches are placed on hold.
  • Body is worked flat in one piece to the underarm with an integrated front band. Optional tapered body shaping is worked on the back only. V-Neck shaping is worked beginning around 4”/10 cm prior to the underarm and continues into the yoke. Optional buttonholes are worked on the front bands, to knitter’s preference.
  • Upon completion of the lower body, stitches are bound off for the underarms.
  • Body and sleeves are then joined to work the yoke in one piece, with bound-off underarm stitches from body and sleeves mirroring each other. Yoke is worked with compound raglan shaping from underarm to neck opening.
  • After yoke shaping is finished, all but the front band stitches are bound off, and collar extensions are worked one after the other. A small section of short rows is worked at the end of each collar extension to improve the fit at the back neck.
  • The left and right collar extensions are joined at the back neck using a Joinery Bind Off, then the collar extension is seamed to the neck edge. Two small seams are also worked to join the bound-off stitches at each underarm.
