This design is made up of travelling stitches (one-stitch cables) that spiral continuously around on a stockinette background. There are 4 cables going one way that are worked every round, and 8 cables going the other way worked every second round. No cable needle is required.

Despite the fact that they are spirals, the cables ultimately produce a slightly irregular diamond pattern, resembling the surface of the famous Dutch toffee-waffles, or ‘Stroopwafels’.
