The interlocking cables and twisted stitches in the Strozzi Socks are inspired by the intricate frames surrounding some of the great paintings of the Italian Renaissance, particularly Gentile da Fabriano’s Adoration of the Magi, which was painted for the Strozzi family in Florence in 1423. The Strozzi socks are worked from the cuff-down in the round, using the Magic Loop method. The pattern features a heel flap and gusset, twisted stitches, cables, and includes charted and written instructions.
