Stumpy mushroom
These little mushrooms are a great way to use up odds and ends of leftover yarn. I used a small hook to make a small ‘shroom (my samples are 2.5-3” tall), but you could supersize yours if you’d like! Just make sure to use a hook 2-3 sizes smaller than recommended for you yarn, in order to make a tight fabric that won’t leak stuffing.
This pattern requires almost no finishing. The cap is crocheted directly onto the stalk. Any color changes can be tied together and stuffed inside. You should just have one yarn tail at the beginning and one at the end to deal with. Instructions are provided for optional spots that can be sewn on at the end if you’d like. I also include a full page of tips and tricks, including suggestions for changing the shape and size of your mushroom.
I used a small glass bead in the bottom of my mushrooms to help provide a weight. If you don’t have a bunch of these sitting around, you could also use a small pebble or some pennies. If you keep the stalk relatively short and don’t make the cap too large, they will stand up even without a weight.
