Sturdy Potholder
Ever wanted a double thick, reversible fabric that’s fun on both sides? Of course there is the double knit technique, but I was hunting high and low for something similar in crochet. Combining several ideas, this is what I came up with, and unlike double knit, you can use 3, 4 or more colours!
This potholder is made in one go, it does not have two sides made separately and then sewn together.
This pattern includes a photo tutorial and is for a basic potholder with 4 colours. You can make it bigger and it can be a hot pad, or even bigger and it can be a place mat, or even a rug!
For bigger projects, you need to slightly adapt the pattern by cutting the yarn after each row which would give you a nice in-built fringe at the same time.
Thank you for acquiring the pattern, and enjoy!
You may wonder why this pattern is not for free, since it’s “just a potholder” and I have many other patterns up for free.
Well, this pattern is also the description for an entire technique and innovating existing takes. It can be taken further and combined with the tapestry stitch technique to make patterns instead of stripes.
