Suas Síos Socks
“Suas síos” (pronounced soo-us shee-us) is Gaelic for “up and down.” I designed this sock while thinking of my family. Through the years as we’ve drawn close and drifted apart and drawn together yet again, the common threads of shared faith and love bind us together despite the ups and downs of life.
Toe up cabled and ribbed sock using magic loop, Judy’s Magic Cast On, faux heel flap, and simplified short row heel. Not suitable for a first sock, but adventurous beginners should be able to follow the pattern without too much trouble.
Top down version now included
Please note: some cables cross over the junctions between needles. If the cable is at the end of needle 2/beginning of needle 1, knit the stitches before slipping them to the cable needle and working your cable. If they fall at the end of needle 1/beginning of needle 2, slip the stitches to the cable needle, turn to needle 2, then work your cable. Redistribute your stitches on the following round.
My thanks to Ravelry members jraltonsmith, Fan-Of-Steele, Tamzell, Ruthynoemy and ScrappyGal for their help in test knitting this design. Any errors remaining are strictly my own responsibility and not a reflection on their abilities.
Permission is hereby granted to sell finished items made using this pattern, whether for personal profit or as a fundraiser for charitable reasons. I would appreciate the attached tag mentioning where buyers can purchase the pattern for themselves, however.
