The Submersible Shawl’s wide cables ride the ‘waves’ of lace like little submarines. The border of this crescent shaped shawl is worked first from end to end. Then stitches are picked up along the inside edge and garter stitch short rows shape the body of the shawl.

The size of this shawl can be easily adjusted, but changing the size will affect the amount of yarn needed. Adding or subtracting repeats of the chart will widen or shorten the length of the shawl. Be aware that the shawl might grow about ten percent in length during blocking depending upon the yarn used.

The cable and lace border uses about two thirds of the yarn. Try to reserve a third of the yarn for the garter stitch body.
