Substrate Shibori Scarf
The first shibori pattern published for fabric that is entirely crocheted, this beginner-friendly pattern is part crochet project, part ecology lesson, and part river adventure! The scarf is felted with small river stones (or alternative), and it holds the stones’ shapes after they are removed, for bubble-like shibori texture and fun river memories. Come dive in!
The scarf pattern is packaged with a detailed feature article about the history and technique of shibori felting, and is available online at this link or in print at this link, in Inside Crochet magazine. Written by a wildlife biologist and including several fun facts about river ecology, 10% of this pattern’s proceeds will be donated to the South Yuba River Citizen’s League to help protect the designer’s favorite river, the wild and scenic Yuba.
