This cowl pattern features a brioche rib and can be knit with fingering yarn held double (approx 440 yds) or with worsted/aran weight yarn (approx 180 yds). Sizes are given for both a slightly closer fitting cowl as well as a larger, more roomy cowl.

This pattern was inspired by Susan B. Cooper’s The Dark is Rising Series and was originally available to those participating in Dreams in Fiber’s Dark is Rising Club. As of December 2010, it is now available to the general public for purchase.
