Success! A Shawl
After struggling with a few shawl patterns (one too small, one too fussy, another more complicated that I would ever complete) I set out to devise a pattern that would be easy without being boring, attractive, just the right size, and would employ contrasting yarn from my stash. Hence, Success! a Shawl. Knit entirely in Garter Stitch, this shawl is 90” long, but only 18” deep. The length enables the shawl to wrap easily around one’s neck while the shorter depth keeps it from being overwhelming as well as making it a relatively quick knit. Begin at one point. Rows are short. Increases occur along one side to the halfway point, then decreases take it to the final point. Color changes are accomplished with intentionally decent size tails that later become fringe. Use scrappy yarn for the stripes in any colorway that suits your fancy.
This is a design for social knitting and for beginners as well as seasoned knitters.
