2020 marks the 100th year since the United States guaranteed women the right to vote by adopting the 19th Amendment. Our Suffrage Cloche adopts the movement’s colors—purple, white, and gold—and celebrates the bravery and determination of the people who worked tirelessly to have the Amendment introduced into Congress in 1878, and for another almost 40 years to have the Amendment ratified in 1920.
Sizes: Small(Medium, Large).
Dimensions: 21.75(24, 26.25) inches around by 7.5(8, 8.5) inches tall, after fulling.
Yarn: Why Knot Fibers Splendid, one skein each in the Plum and Natural colorways.
Yardage: Approximately 280(300, 330) yards; approximately 200(210, 230) yards of the main color and 80(90, 100) yards of the contrasting color.
Gauge: 24 sts and 30 rows in 4 inches, unblocked and before fulling. 28 sts and 47 rows in 4 inches, after fulling.
Needles: Size 5 (3.75 mm) needles for working in the round over a small number of stitches, or size needed to obtain gauge after fulling.
Instructions: The pattern includes fully written-out instructions.
Skills Used: Knitting in the round, basic decreases.
Extras: One stitch marker; a tapestry needle for weaving in ends; soap and hot water for fulling; sewing needle and thread; 24(26, 28) inches of gold ribbon 0.5 inches wide.
