Sugar Bomb Crop : A lightweight cropped short-sleeved top, knit from the bottom up using two-color brioche with an accented hem of Sugar Bombs.

Yarn Notes:
I used a beautiful new yarn blend by Julie Asselin called Lune, consisting of Silk, Linen and a bit of Merino Wool. I highly recommend trying this yarn, it creates a gorgeous all-weather top!! I live in South Texas, so I don’t get to wear my knits very often. This top is one I can wear even in the hot summer months! This yarn also adds a beautiful structure to the fabric that makes it easy to wear.

Skill level:
Intermediate - Beginner Brioche Friendly if you want to try your first brioche top!

Techniques used:
knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases (no br4st dec!), knitting in the round, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off, Mattress Stitch, Three-Needle Bind Off.

Construction Notes:
This lightweight summer top is knit from the bottom up with drop shoulder construction, creating a cap sleeve. You will cast on your stitches for the hem and immediately begin working in the round the Sugar Bombs two-color brioche stitch pattern that will continue for the Hem. The remainder of the Body is worked in two-color brioche rib. After working the main body of your top, you will separate the Front and Back and begin working flat. The Front and Back are worked almost identically. Stitches are then cast on at either edge for your Sleeves, while continuing the same two-color brioche rib all the way to your Neck and Shoulders. The Shoulders are seamed together using the Three Needle Bind Off, with the seam facing the Contrast Side of your top, while the Neck stitches are simply bound off, creating a boatneck shape. Finally, the top is finished with small seams at the bottom of the sleeves.

I love this top shape so much! It is so easy to wear and the construction is so simple. It’s a great way showcase a stitch pattern throughout a garment! I have designed this top to be completely reversible. So depending on your mood, you can wear whichever side you’re feeling like!! I love to style mine with high-waisted shorts or over a cute summery dress.

The name of this pattern was inspired by sugary cereal featured on the TV show, Fallout. I pictured sweet candy and sugary summers with the colors of this top!! Sweet summer days, filled with sugary treats.

This pattern is both written and charted for the Hem ONLY for your convenience! All other instructions are written only.

Circular needles are used for knitting in the round and for two-color brioche knitting flat. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain proper gauge.
