I wrote this pattern to showcase the gorgeous self-striping colorways of Noro Kureyon yarn. Even though this pattern calls for just one colorway of Kureyon, you will be using two skeins at a time and alternating between the two to make stripes. As the colors in each yarn start to change on their own, you will end up with a uniquely colored scarf depending on which colors were at the starting points of your skeins. You may encounter parts of your knitting where both skeins are showing the same color. That is ok! It’s all part of the fun of watching the colors of your unique scarf unfold.

This scarf is knit in the round and the cast on and bind off edges get seamed closed at the end to make a flat edge. You will then block your scarf to get nice crisp edges so the scarf will end up being a rectangular shape instead of the tube from knitting in the round. When we knit scarves in the round, it eliminates the ‘wrong side’, and you are left with a double layered fabric with the design facing outwards on both sides.

Gauge
17.5 sts and 24 rows make a 4” (10 cm) square in stockinette stitch, worked in the round, AFTER blocking

Materials
1050 total yards (480g/960m) of worsted weight yarn in (I used Noro Kureyon, color #95,)
You will need 10 skeins of Kureyon
US 6 (4.0mm) circular needles with a 16” (40.5cm) cord
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Blocking mats and pins
Extra yarn for fringe (optional)
Crochet hook for attaching fringe (optional)
