Call it a trivet or a table mat. Put it under a tea pot or flower vase. Use it for Halloween or Day of the Dead celebrations. Or just keep it around for fun. This pattern is just a combination of small knitted tubes and strips of garter stitch sewn together as you go. Lots and lots of very clear pictures to show you construction. The last page gives a list of pieces you will need to knit. This is a really great road trip project!
Just remember it is wool. Never place very hot pots or pans on your wool trivets. Wool will burn!
