Sugar Strands Blanket
This PDF crochet PATTERN gives you easy, step-by-step instructions how to crochet this beautiful Sugar Strands Inset Mosaic Crochet Blanket. This a true stash-busting project - you can go with the colours used here, or dive into your yarn mountain and turn this into your own fabulous, stash-busting, colourful adventure! I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter double knit/light worsted weight yarn, but it’s up to you which yarn direction you choose to go in. Originally published in 2022 in Simply Crochet magazine issue 131 as an abridged version ‘Broken Lines Blanket’ now available as an unabridged, stand-alone pattern!
Please note: due to the nature of this 2-row/inset version of mosaic crochet, short lengths of chain are made on the reverse. See photo of close-up of the reverse side. These can either be left loose or can be covered and incorporated into other stitches to hide them. Full details are given in the pattern.
Suitable for advanced beginner level upwards, the 8-page pattern includes:
- full written row-by-row instructions (UK crochet terms, US terms are given in Abbreviations list where applicable)
- pattern notes
- stitch abbreviations
- special stitch instructions
- 2-row/inset mosaic crochet chart and instructions
You can either use the gorgeous Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn listed in the pattern, or any yarn you like. I used a 5.5mm (US I/9) crochet hook.
Your finished blanket will measure approximately 90 x 125cm/35.5 x 49in. The pattern gives full details how to adjust the size to suit you.
I absolutely loved designing and making this blanket, and I hope you love making it just as much. Any questions, just give me a shout!
