PATTERN NOTES:
This knitting pattern is written in US standard terms for adult size only, uses a 9-stitch repeat, and is recommended for intermediate knitters.
SUGGESTED YARN and YARDAGE:
Light Super Bulky (70-80 yards) - Malabrigo Noventa or similar
Bulky/Chunky (90-100 yards) - Malabrigi Chunky or similar
Aran (110-145 yards) - We Are Knitters Petite Wool or similar
Worsted (145-180 yards) - Malabrigo Washted or similar
NEEDLE SIZES:
Light Super Bulky: US11/8mm and US13/9mm 16” circular knitting needles
Bulky/Chunky: US10/6mm and US10.5/6.5mm 16” circular knitting needles
Aran: US8/5mm, US9/5.5mm, and US10/6mm 16” circular knitting needles
Worsted: US6/4mm and US7/4.5mm 16” circular knitting needles
GAUGE (2x2” in stockinette; using largest needles noted for yarn weight):
Bulky/Chunky: 6.5 stitches and 8 rows
Aran: 8 stitches and 10 rows
Worsted: 10 stitches and 14 rows
OTHER NOTIONS NEEDED:
• Stitch marker
• Tapestry/darning needle
• US13/9mm, US9/5.5mm, US10/6mm, and US7/4.5mm double pointed
needles (optional)
• Measuring tape
• Faux fur pom (optional)
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
The finished pattern should measure 9” in length when laid flat and fit an average adult head size of 21” - 23” in circumference. The folded brim pattern should also measure 9.5” in length when laid flat and folded. If you would like to knit a smaller size, I recommend decreasing your needle size, instead of the stitch count.
