Suisto
Yarn
MC: Yarn weight used in the example cardigan was 300m/100g. Any sport weight yarn for given gauge can be used. Some fingering yarns may also work, especially those without super wash treatment. However, purpose for of using thicker yarn as MC is to compensate the thickness of stockinette stitch with MC to stranded pattern knitted with CCs.
CC1 and CC2: Yarns weights used in the example cardigan were 400m/100g. Alternatively any fingering yarn giving correct gauge for stranded patterns with stockinette stitch can be used.
Note that if the yarn types of MC and CCs are different, they most probably behave differently in the finished cardigan
Description
Suisto (river delta in Finnish) is cardigan knitted top down with set in sleeves. Shoulder line before separating sleeves is knitted with moderate positive ease. There is shaping for waist and room for hip and hem to avoid the stretching of the cardigan while sitting.
Body of Suisto is knitted back and forth with v-neckline. There is stranded pattern knitted with intarsia technique at the back side of Suisto. Pattern with two contrast colours starts with creating a river. Then the river starts to widen and creates delta area, suisto. Charts for the stranded intarsia area are included in Suisto instructions. The length of Suisto can be adapted based on your preferences and yarn amount.
Sleeves are knitted in round. Armpit stitches are picked from body and no sewing is needed at armpit. There are two options for sleeve decreases, since arms are shaped differently. One option is for slim arms and the other one for more muscular biceps.
Hem, cuffs and neckline/button band are knitted with garter stitch. Bind off with i-cord technique gives a neat touch to Suisto.
Pattern is technically edited and test knitted for sizes L and XL
