This backpack closes with a drawstring, easy to close and easy to open when it is NOT being worn. It is VERY difficult to open while it is being worn - good security!

I used Cotton-Ease as I wanted a backpack to use during the summer rather than having hot wool on my back. Of course, it can easily be made of wool for a winter backpack.

This backpack is knit mostly in the round. The base, a portion of the casings and the pocket are knitted flat. The only sewing needed is to secure the casings to the inside of the top and to attach the pocket and pocket flap.

The stitches used are really simple and add interest to a very simple bag. The drawstring straps are I-cords and are surprisingly comfortable to wear.
