Light as a summer breeze, this lacy, crescent-shaped shawl is just the piece to throw over your shoulders all year long. It is knit from the top down, beginning with a subtle shifting sand cable pattern, and progressing to an all-over lace section. The shawl finishes with the addition of a “knitted on”, or “applied” lace border that is worked simultaneously with the bind off. Although I chose to knit this piece in fingering weight yarn, sport weight would also work. Keep in mind that this shawl is fairly sizable already in fingering weight at 6 ft. long and 27 inches at its center, deepest point. If you choose to work it in sport weight, your shawl will be larger than mine is. I used 800 yards of 2 skeins (420 yards per skein) of Madelinetosoh Tosh Merino Light fingering weight yarn in the shade of Sausage, Chard, and Lemon Lasagna. Complete written instructions, charts, and video tutorials are included in the pattern.
