Summer Garden Mitts & Mittens

About the pattern
Inspired by the little critters and the beautiful flowers of a summer garden.
Both mittens and mitts are knit with only 2 colors in a row. The colors of the flowers, butterflies and dragonflies are added with duplicate stitch after the knitting is done.
IMPORTANT: It is quite a bit of embroidering, that’s why I don’t recommend this pattern to anyone who is not a fan of duplicate stitch. On the other hand, if you don’t mind having to do embroidery on knitting, these mittens/mitts are like a page from a coloring book where you get to choose all of your own colors.
The sample mitts were made with Sandnes Garn Tove (175 yards / 50 grams) and US 1 1/2 (2.5mm) needles. You will need about 245y (70g):
dark green 112y (32g), light green 7y (2g), white 126y (36g), plus small amounts of other colors for embroidery.
For the mittens: Fingering weight yarn - 231y/50 g (211m/50g). You will need about 277 yards/60 g total:
dark green – 30 y/6 g; light green – 19y/4 g; background color (light blue/white) – 148 y/32 g; main contrast color (black) – 84 y/18 g. Plus small amounts of colors of your choice for embroidery
The beautiful sample mitts were knit by ♥ Mitt ♥, the lovely mittens sample was knit by ♥ MASHAISL ♥ Thank you!!!
