The summer haze top is a soft, lacy top with gorgeous drape and cute plaited straps. It is designed to allow you to play with different colour combinations in the lace repeats and the straps and so makes a great scrappy project. The top is worked bottom up in the round and then the front and back pieces are worked flat from the armholes. Plaited straps are attached at the end. The pattern gives instructions for five sizes and cropped or full length options for each size. The pattern includes a step by step photo tutorial for the plaited straps and lace instructions are both written and charted.

Equipment
4mm 60cm circular needles (or size to meet gauge)
Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, tape measure, stitch holder or waste yarn
crochet hook approx. 4-6mm (for threading yarn through the work to begin straps), hair tie or rubber band (for securing plaited straps before they are sewn in place)

Gauge
19.5 stitches and 32 rows for a 10x10cm / 4x4 inch square in stocking stitch after blocking.

The summer haze top is designed to fit with approx. 12 cm / 5 inches negative ease.

To choose a size, take your bust measurement and find the measurement in the ‘to fit bust’ rows (given in cm and inches) that is closest to your bust measurement. If you don’t want the top to be too fitted, choose one size larger than your closest bust measurement.

Yarn
The summer haze top is designed to make use of multiple colours of yarn in the straps and lace repeats. Yarn requirements are given in the pattern broken down into sections so that you can create your own combination of colours and easily calculate how much of each colour you will need to get creative! Totals for each size are also given for simplicity if you want to knit the whole top in a single colour (in cropped and full length versions).

The summer haze top is designed to be knitted in cotton or cotton blend dk yarn. Samples are knitted using DROPS Belle 53% Cotton, 33% Rayon, 14% Linen (120m / 131y per 50g) in shades 11 – Old Pink, 02 – Off White and 16 – Mauve for the cropped version and shades 17 – Petrol, 02 – Off White and 25 – Forest Brown for the full length version. Note: some of the test knitters made this pattern in bamboo yarn and found it to stretch much more and not give as tight-a-fit as cotton or cotton blends. If you want the top to be figure hugging, it is advised to use a mostly cotton yarn.
