Last summer I spent quite a while in the beautiful little town of Carlingford. Two things I think of in particular when I think of Carlingford now. The joy which my dog Odin had swimming in the sea each day, and the pink flowers everywhere.
This pattern draws on those memories of summer in Carlingford, and the design evokes drifts of flowers along a roadside in a light floaty design. Cool enough for a nice summer day, but cosy enough if a breeze comes in from the harbour.

The main body is worked as 2 hexagons which fold over to form the side panels and sleeves of the pullover. The front and back central panels are then worked with connecting strips of flower design using join-as-you-go method. An additional panel is then added around the bottom in a contrasting colour, and a picot border created for the neckline and cuffs.

4 inches positive ease has been used for each size. This is styled as a loose, floaty garment, so if between sizes it is recommended to go up rather than down a size.
Optional additional bust shaping is included and the length is adjustable with the bottom edging panel.

Materials:
Yarn: Any DK yarn which works to the correct tension. Recommended yarns are Hoooked Eucalyps, King Cole Bamboo Cotton or Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo and Cotton, each of which worked up to the same tension in pattern design.
The pattern is designed as a summer garment with plant-based bamboo or viscose yarns in mind, and these sometimes don’t work to the same tension as other yarns, so if making a substitution, checking tension/gauge is very important.

Hook: 4mm crochet hook, or size required to match tension

Stitch markers: At least 2 different colours - 8 to mark corners on each hexagon, and 4 distinctly different ones to mark corners identifying the sleeve side of each hexagon.
A third colour stitch marker is recommended if you choose to add bust shaping.

Other equipment: tape measure, scissors or yarn snips, tapestry / blunt needle

Tension/gauge:
8 split clusters x 9 rows = 4 inch square

Work will measure 5 inches across the centre after 5 rounds of the hexagon are worked.
