Materials
• US Size 0 (2mm) set of dpns or circular needles (for Magic Loop method); US size 00 (1.75mm) for ribbing (optional)
• Fingering weight yarn – 231y/50 g (211m/50g). You will need about 325y (70g): Color BC (white) – 130y (28g), CC1 (black) - 130y (28g), CC2 (dark green) – 37y(8g), CC3 (light green) – 27y (6g), CC 4 (red) – 10y (2g). Depending on what shade of green you use for the frogs and dragonflies, you will need a bit more of either dark or light green
• Tapestry needle
Gauge
9 sts x 13 rows (in stranded knitting in the round) in 1” x 1” after blocking
Notes
1. Size: The mittens are 68 stitches in the hand part. With recommended yarn, needles, and gauge the mittens should fit an 8” circumference hand. To make larger size mittens use larger needles or thicker yarns.
2. Stranded colorwork: Follow the charts from right to left. Make sure to catch longer floats using preferred method.
3. Duplicate Stitch: The color of the mushroom tops, frogs, and dragonfly body is added using duplicate stitch technique after the knitting is finished.
4. The cuffs on most of my mittens tend to run long (4.5”/11cm from the thumb opening down – ribbing not included). I recommend that you opt for a shorter ribbing.
