The Summer Joy Blouse was designed to be a staple wardrobe piece for the warmer months but has evolved to become a garment you can wear year round by choosing to layer it over other garments.
Designed with -1 to 1 inch of ease across the bust to create a form-fitting bodice and a textured flowy body, you can create a short blouse or a dress. To further customise to suit your style, you can choose to have a sleeveless garment or add short flowy sleeves.
This blouse is constructed in a way to keep seaming to a minimum. First we create the top half of the blouse, starting with the back, followed by the left and right front pieces. Once this form-fitting bodice is completed, a button band is added. The bottom portion is added directly onto the bodice and made to your desired length. The optional sleeves are added directly to the armholes. Finally, buttons are sewn on the front to fasten at the bust.
