This is something I designed to allow each person their own freedom in the creation of this top. You must have a bit of crochet experience to understand it all though. BUT if are pretty nifty with your hook, this should be a fun little project that will allow you to try on as you go and make adjustments as you work so your end result will be something you will actually want to wear. This pattern has been tested for errors. I am offering this pattern for free because you will be doing the work as part of the design team AND because I wanted to give a little something else to this wonderful Ravelry community-take a penny leave a penny.

This top is worked from top down, so you can try it on as you go. It is meant to be a fitted top. There is a little bit of math involved, I’ve provided a few little places where you will write down measurements and give you some formulas and using these numbers you plug them into the pattern and then you can make your top fit you they way you want it to fit you. If you do not like having to do this, then you should probably move on, but I thought it was worth the little bit of trouble to make a top that actually fits. There are also notations that will give you optional increases or decreases where needed because, after all, we are not all built the same.

The bust actually increases just in the bust area, not in the entire round-I was sick of always having that ‘back bulge.’

Pattern is worked in the round but you will turn during certain rounds as called for in the pattern this is to obtain the interest at the different row as well as to make the joining area not shift.

Gauge is truly not important, and you could use just about any yarn you want, but I really recommend a lighter yarn (#2). My estimated yarn was based on a small top which fit a bust of 32 inches and was 17” from top of bust to bottom of top. You may need more or less depending on the size you will be making.

correction: Picot: ch 3, sl st in top of dc previously made (the uploaded pdf cut off the description in the text box) my apologies!
