Summer Party Garland
Set the party’s mood instantly when you adorn your space with this pretty boho garland inspired by the Mexican folk art tradition of papel picado, brightly colored paper garlands with intricate cut or punched designs.
The garland has 3 layers: a square tiles layer, a pom-pom layer, and a picot layer.
Each square is 4.5 inches wide (11.5 cm). The garland is about 6.5 feet long (about 2 meters) when you join 8 squares. You can make it shorter or longer by using fewer or more squares.
This is a scrap-friendly project! Each square requires about 8.5 yards (8 m) of each color. The pom-pom layer requires about 25.5 yards (23.5 m) of yarn. The picot layer requires about 29 yards (26.5 m) of yarn.
This is a beginner pattern that requires chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet stitches. Pattern is written in US terms and includes explanations of all stitches and abbreviations. US and metric measurements given.
Pattern pdf includes color photo tutorial as well as written row-by-row instructions. Please feel free to sell finished items made from this pattern if you give pattern design credit as “Summer Party Garland Pattern by Susan Kennedy of PrettyPeaceful”.
