Summer Petals
Summer Petals is a deep crescent shawl which evokes those easy, breezy days of summer we all hanker after. Sections of repeating lace motifs are edged with a deep border reminiscent of overlapping petals. The shawl shaping begins as a traditional triangle with edge and spine increases. The spine increases are discontinued when the deep border begins, creating the deep crescent effect. The end result is a versatile shawl, less deep than a traditional triangle, and with ends long enough to easily wrap about your shoulders.
Materials
Approximately 590 metres (645 yards) of laceweight yarn
3.75 mm / US 5 circular needles
You can easily knit this with one skein of Eden Cottage Yarns Titus lace. I used the colourway: Summer Petals. This particular colourway is very delicately speckled, and I so enjoyed finally being able to combine a speckled yarn with the lace I so love.
Techniques
This is a moderately easy lace shawl. Lace stitches (yarn over, k2tog, ssk, sk2p, s2kp2) are worked on Right Side rows only.
There are a few Estonian gathered stitches at the beginning, and one row of 3/4 left leaning cables.
Charts
There are multiple charts, and while at first they may seem quite large, I do this deliberately (rather than making additional, but smaller charts), because I think a chart that actually looks like the knitted fabric is easier to follow and understand.
