Almost everyone I know who learned to crochet as a child has told me the same story: they learned how to chain and nothing else, and so they sat and crocheted miles and miles of it. Some turned it into necklaces, others bracelets. Again and again, the message is clear – there’s not much to do if you only know how to chain.

This bookmark is mostly constructed of chains (although a pair of single crochet appear near the beginning) and would be a fun project for the young beginning crocheter to tackle.
