Summer Sailing
I love summer, sweaters and stripes! Sweaters can be worn any time of year, and this one just makes me feel summer and spring. Inspired by the nautical theme and the pastels of spring I created this sample in the picture. I can’t wait for the first summer evening when I can cozy up in this sweater.
This sweater is made with lots of positive ease, dropped shoulders give a large loose sleeve area. The design is all based on a ribbing theme to give it lots of texture. The main body and sleeves are broken rib stitch, with cuffs in ribbing. The sweater is knit in two pieces that are seamed together at the sides and shoulders. The sleeve stitches are picked up and knit in the round, the same for the collar. Seamed sweaters give so much structure and the ability to really adapt to your specific sizing needed. For the sample I used Pima Cotton. It gave the draping effect I wanted for this sweater. The cotton also gives it a warm, soft, yet cooling fibre to this sweater.
