Summer Sailing Ship
I was curious to see how easy it would be to make a 3D sculpture out of crochet that would need minimal external support and this is the end-result!
Apologies to all true sailors out there - I’m well aware there are deficiencies in the rigging, possibly dimensions, and certainly in the knots used but hope I was able to capture the spirit of a summer afternoon on a tall ship…
The crochet itself is easy but the assembly and particularly the rigging does take some time although well worth it in the end.
The ship is rested on a piece of base-wood that I painted blue to look like a reflection; optionally, you can cover it up as I have done with a doily but it still looks good without it.
