This cowl pattern was originally written for the introduction of Quill & Quiver Fiber’s sport-weight base at Hermit Thrush Fiber Co. during the 2022 Great Northern Yarn Haul.

Construction
This cowl is worked sideways starting and ending at the center back. It features icord edges, simple increases and decreases to shape the front, and is finished with a crochet seam for a subtle extra detail.

Sizing
The shorter version measures 6.5” tall at the center front and 3.5” tall at the center back
The taller version measures 10” tall at the center front and 7” tall at the center back
Both are 20” in circumference

Yarn
Any sport-weight yarn will work
Both samples were made using Quill & Quiver Fiber Sport

Yardage
You’ll need approximately 120 yards for the shorter version and 290 yards for the taller version

Gauge
24 sts x 42 rows in 4”/10cm measured over the garter/slip stitch pattern

Needles/hooks
US7/4.5mm needle, or size necessary to achieve gauge
H/5mm crochet hook for visible seam (optional)
