Summery BJD Shoes
Sized to fit dolls with feet measuring 52-55 mm x 20 mm.
Gauge is most accurately measured by completing the insole piece.
These shoes will fit both flat and high heel feet, depending on how the outsole is made.
The shoes are crocheted in three pieces, insole, toe box, and heel cup, then joined with a single crochet welt. The ankle ties are crocheted last.
Interlinked crochet stitches are used to make the insole piece and are defined in the pattern.
Directions are included for making a template to cut soling material to finish the shoes.
Other materials/notions:
- 4 small beads, optional, for the ends of the shoe ties (3-4mm beads or 6/0 “E” beads)
- 1 piece of stiff clear plastic, such as from a piece of packaging or food container, to make a template for cutting the sole
- Fine point permanent marker for writing on the plastic
- Acetone (nail polish remover) to remove the marker from the plastic
- Soling material
- White craft glue, or other glue suited to your thread and soling material
- Clear nail polish or Fray Check for sealing the tie ends
The example shoes all use cork tile and craft foam for soles. Other possible materials include: leather, wood, dried/cured clay, sheet rubber, mat board, card stock (multiple layers), etc..
Yardage required by piece (for one shoe)
Insole – About 4 yards
Toe box – About 3 yards (1 yard for the hexagon, 2 yards for the edging)
Heel cup – About 2 yards, excluding ties
Welt – About 1.5 yards
Ties – variable, about 2.5 yards for the shoes shown in the pattern
