I created this pattern because I was looking for a sun hat for my grandson that had just the right amount of flare that his eyes were protected from the harsh Colorado sun, but he could still explore the world and I could see his sweet face. :)
The pattern is designed to fit loosely sizes:
• ages 3 - 6 months with head circumference 16 - 17”
• ages 6 - 12 months with a head circumference of 17 - 18”
• ages 1 - 3 years with a head circumference of 18.5 - 19”
• ages 3 - 10 years with a head circumference of 19 - 20”
It requires a size 4.25 G hook. I used three colors of yarn with approximately 90-110 yards for the main color and 16 yards for contrasting color B and 8 yards for contrasting color C.
I used Peaches and Cream cotton yarn because that’s what I had on hand, but any worsted weight cotton yarn will be great for this pattern.
This is a perfect beginner pattern and just requires an understanding of basic written pattern instructions.
The hat works up in about an hour to 90 minutes so you can make one in every color you’ve got to match your little one’s outfits.
