Sun Belt
I love this shawl! It’s so cheery and summery! Knitted from fingering weight yarn from Emma’s and Gusto. You can use any fingering weight yarn, you’ll need around 800 yards. The beads (6/0 are optional, but add so much design interest and color and they add nice drape to the shawl.
There are picots along the cast on (bottom) edge. You can leave off the picots, if you don’t want them. Instructions for a no picot cast are included.
Sun Belt is a big shawl, for wrapping around your shoulders or waist as you’d like. It’s easy to wear because it’s large, but not really deep, perfect for warm weather. This would also be lovely in white as a wedding shawl.
The lace is a 16 stitch repeat and is strong enough to look good without the beads, if you so desire. If you don’t want to add beads, simply knit the stitch. Easy. The shaping is from short rows; complete instructions incuded.
The pattern has a big, easy to read chart for the lace section, but also has the lace section written out for you if you don’t like working from charts.
I used two colors of orange, one solid for the lace and a slightly speckled one for the crescent section and top. If you’d like to use one color only, that’s fine, just make sure you have 800 yards (around two skeins of fingering weight merino or merino blend for best results).
Enjoy this pattern and thanks for looking!
