Up north where we live the sun begins to shine a while before the air warms up enough for most sun hats. We needed a bonnet that would keep the sun out of baby’s eyes, but still offer some of the warmth of a conventional knitted bonnet, and the Sun Bonnet pattern gives the best of both worlds!

Knitted in wool this piece will keep wee ones cozy during transition weather, knitted in cotton this piece will soon become a summer wardrobe staple!

Sizes: 0-3, 3-6, 6-12, 12-18, 24, & 36 months

Materials:
Yarn: Heavy fingering/Sport weight yarn (whatever produces proper gauge) 115-200 yds/105-183 m

Needles: Size US 2.5/3 mm 24”(61 cm) circulars or straight needles, & US 2.5/3 mm DPNs

Notions: 2 stitch markers (1 fixed), yarn needle, and measuring tape

Brim support material: A piece of interfacing or flexible recycled plastic that can be cut to fit inside the brim to reinforce it.
