Sunburn Lace Poncho is a light, airy cotton poncho which is perfectly suited for those warm afternoons in spring and autumn. It’s the perfect garment for when a jacket or sweater is too much, but just a shirt not enough. Additionally, it has a very flattering shape and the soft cotton drapes beautifully around the body. The name is inspired by the gorgeous, warm gradient colour of the yarn, for which this pattern was specifically designed.

Gauge is not terribly important for this project. As with most ponchos: one size fits most and you’re certainly free to use whichever sport-weight yarn you prefer. Though I strongly recommmend Hobbii Cotton Kings Twirls Deluxe (1 cake) for the beautiful colour and drape of the cotton.

Materials:

  • 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles in varying lengths (it starts out small and then gets bigger and bigger).
  • Plenty of stitch markers (with one unique one for the beginning of your round).
  • Darning needle for weaving in ends.
